Establish a private life
On Tyranny, chapter 14
Tyrants seek the hook on which to hang you. Try not to have hooks.
Totalitarianism is the erasure of the difference between public and private life. Freedom means having control over what people know about us. Not having control gives corrupt leaders the opportunity to distract individuals and the media away from reality and toward conspiracy theories.
Do not take an active interest in stories of questionable relevance that are chosen by tyrants, oligarchs and spooks.
Securing one's computer and private life is an individual action; collective action, such as the support of organizations that are concerned with human rights, is more powerful.
