The idea, posited by Francis Fukuyama in The End of History and the Last Man, that the rise of the modern liberal democracy and free market capitalism is the end of political history, the pinnacle of human society, the furthest we can go whether we like it or not. It also makes reference to Nietzsche's the Last Man.
