Hyperstition
Hyperstition is the idea that concepts can have a causal function that brings about their own reality. Examples might include:
- speculation about the stock market causing its prices to change exactly as was predicted due to said speculation affecting buying and selling trends
- Woody and Buzz being fictional toys in Toy Story that became real when the toys from the movie were merchandised by Disney
Hyperstitions by their very existence as ideas function causally to bring about their own reality.
The idea was brought into the public consciousness by the Ccru.
